Council bosses brushed shoulders with one of the District’s largest employers in a bid to understand their business needs.

Bromsgrove District Council Leader Karen May and Chief Executive Kevin Dicks visited LG Harris which employs 300 people at its site in Stoke Prior.

It is part of the branded consumer goods conglomerate, ORKLA which employs 18,500 people worldwide.

Cllr May said: “We wanted to visit our largest employers to understand what they need from us – and to learn from them.

“For example their mantra is ‘People First’ and the welfare of their employees are high up on their agenda which is great as it’s our local people who they are employing.

“And by understanding why being based in Bromsgrove works for them and seeing how we can support them more, we can use this knowledge to attract further big companies to the area, providing further opportunities for our residents so they can continue to live, work and play in their local area.”

Next on the list of companies to visit is property development and investment company, The Barberry Group, situated in Bell End near Stourbridge.
