Construction opportunities for local people

As part of the regeneration of the Former Magistrates Court, our construction contractor BAM has been working in the wider community – particularly local schools and colleges - to promote and provide work opportunities to work in the industry.

As part of National Careers Week in March 2023, the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB), and the BAM team held a Construction Bootcamp with students at Kidderminster College. Bricklaying students also took part in an assessment challenge and heard about local work experience opportunities.

In March 2023, Sam Elford local Area CITB advisor (pictured left) and Niamh Southwell Construction Management Apprentice joined Phil Eves, Education Co-ordinator at BAM Construction Midlands to deliver two careers and instruction sessions to students at Stourport High School.  Students learned about the new Kidderminster Creative Hub project and the scope of opportunities in the construction industry.
