Proposed Landscape

The landscape proposals integrate the external spaces with the new uses of the development.

The design includes improved pedestrian access between Worcester Street and Coronation Gardens to the south. The improvements to the Coronation Gardens will provide an enhanced external area with seating, bicycle parking, planting, playground equipment and other facilities. In addition, a rain garden at the rear of the Weaving sheds provides softness, smells, movement and environmental improvements to the space.

The design links the external areas, which are zoned according to their location, proposed use, and character.

Proposed Designs

The key ambitions of the project are:

  • To restore a key historic building and its setting in Kidderminster.
  • To create a destination building and facility.
  • To provide a suitable home for various creative businesses and music based activities.
  • To preserve the historic weaving sheds.
  • To bring an underused location on the edge of town centre, known to attract antisocial behaviour to life, improving security and public use of this site and wider area.
  • To reduce the environmental impact of the building and transport through provision of safe cycling routes and storage and improved pedestrian realm.
  • To improve inclusive access to the building and facilities for all.
  • To renovate the Worcester Cross and upgrade Coronation Gardens and the surrounding streetscape.
